Blackjack world is buzzing. One student at the University of Dundee came out with a computer program that allows him to detect card counting activity in a land based casino…

This program, created by this 22 year old guy named Kris Zutis takes data from the CCTV system from the casino. Analyses this data and tells card counting and dealer mistakes.
Card counting is very difficult to detect when it is well done. This means great costs for casinos so casino owners will be very happy with this new software.

Anyway, this computer program is still not ready to see the light yet but it is being developed quickly.
In 1962, professor Edward Thorpe demonstrated that if some player could keep track of the cards dealt, he could adjust his strategy to overcome the house advantage, and not only that, but giving himself a 1% edge over the house. Since then, card counting has been the darling of blackjack players and the nightmare of casinos as well.

Of course, card counting is not that easy, you have to have good observational skills, you have to be able to think quickly and all of that without anyone noticing you are counting cards. A not easy (although not impossible) task if you ask me. Casinos all over the world have certain rules stating they would ban anyone suspected of counting cards at their tables.

Of course, casinos always had one pretty big problem: detecting card counters is not always easy. More experimented card counters had developed de ability of counting the cards at blackjack without bringing attention to themselves. That is why casinos still lose some money from these players. Besides that, they also lose money when dealers make some mistake.
But, now this Kris Zutig guy developed this software that can plug both of those leaks. My guess is that all casino owners will simply love him if this program actually works.
