Baccarat – Rules
Baccarat is an exciting game, you can remember it from the famous James Bond`s movie by Ian Fleming: “Casino Royale”.
There are three bets you can make in Baccarat. You can bet on the dealer´s hand, the player´s hand and less common but still possible: the tie bet. Player`s hand pays 1:1, banker`s hand pays 1:1 less a 5% house commission and tie pays 8:1.
Both player and dealer get two cards, all face cards and tens are worth 0, Aces are worth 1 and cards less than ten worth their face value. Suites have no importance here. Any hand that reaches a double digit value is worth the same as the right digit only. So if the hands reaches 26, is counted as 6, and if it reaches 16 it is also counted as 6. The game`s main goal is to get as close to 9 as possible. It is played with 6 to 8 decks, each hand will get a minimun of 2 and a maximun of 3 cards.

Once the players and dealer are dealt two cards, they may be dealt a third card each. Only player or only dealer can get a third card. There are no choices to make here (it is not like Blackjack). Whether any player will get a third card or not is not anyone's decision, it is automatic. It is based on the third card rules (no need to learn them, they will automatically be applied by the casino).

Examples:

baccarat example

Player´s third card rule

If either player or dealer reaches 8 or 9 with the two first cards, then the hand is over and it will be called a “natural”
If player reaches 5 or less, a third card is drawn.
If player doesn`t draw a third card and the dealer stands on 6 or more he will get a third card with 5 or less. If the player does take a third card, then the following “Bank´s third card rules” are applied.

Bank´s third card rules

With 2 or less, draws a third card regardless the player`s third card
With 3 draws a third card unless the player`s third card is an 8.
With 4, draws a third card unless players third card is 0, 1, 8 or 9
With 5 draws unless player got a 4, 5, 6 or 7.
With 6 draws a third card only if player`s third card is 6 or 7
With 7 stands.

Good luck!
