The Fibonacci System

Leonardo de Pisa, also know as Leonardo Pisano, Leonardo Bigollo or more commonly, Fibonacci, was an Italian mathematician who invented what we know today as the Fibonacci sequence (he discovered this series while studying the growth of a rabbit population).

Guglielmo (William) was Leonardo’s father, his nickname was Bonacci (meaning well intentioned). Leonardo got the nickname of Fibonacci, or filuis Bonacci, meaning son of Bonacci.


The Fibonacci sequence is a series of numbers existing in nature:

1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233, 377,…

Every number is simply the addition of the two previous ones. Starting with the number 1, the second number is 1+0=1, the third number is 1+1=2, the next one is 1+2=3 and so on.
So how is the Fibonacci sequence used in roulette?
Well, it’s used to bet on chances (red / black; odds / even; high / low). Let’s define one bet unit:
We start the sequence betting one unit, if we win, the series is over, if we lose, we start a line taking note of the number “1”. The next number in the Fibonacci sequence represents how many bet units we will bet in the next round. If we win this bet the series is over, if we lose, we will bet again on the next number of units we see in the series. Every time we win, we don’t use the first number in the series anymore.

1.) Bet 1 unit and lose : 1 –1 unit
2.) Bet 1 unit and lose : 1-1 –2 units
3.) Bet 2 units and lose : 1-1-2 –4 units
4.) Bet 3 units and lose : 1-x-x –1 unit
5.) Bet 1 unit and lose : 1-1 –2 units
6.) Bet 2 units and lose : 1-1-2 –4 units
7.) Bet 3 units and lose : 1-1-2-3 –7 units
8.) Bet 5 units and lose : 1-1-x-x –2 units
9.) Bet 2 units and lose : 1-1-2 –4 units
10.) Bet 3 units and lose : 1-x-x –1 unit
11.) Bet 1 unit and lose : 1-1 –2 units
12.) Bet 2 units and lose : x-x +0 units
13.) Bet 1 unit and lose : stops +1 unit, series won

If you choose to use the Fibonacci system, we recommend you do it very carefully. Decide your bet unit and set a level where you will stop the series if you lose.
In our example, in the 8th bet we reach a maximum 5 betting units. If we lose this bet, we could be 12 units down, or -$60 (at $5 per betting unit). The next bet would be 8 units and another loss will get us to -20 units.
We may want to make the 5th step the limit, or maybe we should set our betting unit lower. Remember, everyone will hit a downstream eventually and thus you should never bet money you can’t afford to lose.
